The DNC Surrenders to Party Radicals

Other than having had to put up its headquarters as loan collateral following impoverishment by Kamala Harris’ cash-incinerating presidential run, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) has made few headlines recently.

However, that changed in August when the DNC officially embraced the radicals who have been upsetting incumbent House Democrats in primary elections, and beating establishment Democrats elsewhere. Democrats in deep-red Florida nominated a socialist for Senate over a “shoo-in” establishment candidate who outspent her nearly twenty to one.

At a meeting in Texas, the DNC adopted planks of a platform advanced by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), objectives about which anxious elected Democrats previously expressed ignorance.

From a recent column: “When questioned about the DSA’s socialist/communist agenda, …suddenly reticent elected Democrats (‘don’t know,’ ‘haven’t read it,’ ‘can’t comment’) who apparently still think they can get – will need – DSA votes, keep coming back to their party’s ‘big tent’ trope. Ironically, the Democrats’ ‘big tent’ now has room for socialists and communists, but none for life-long Democrat John Fetterman.”

In a cynical attempt to appease DSA radicals, the DNC voted to approve a “nonbinding resolution” urging congressional Democrats to craft legislation abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), a central feature of the DSA agenda.

The DNC knows that, while currently on summer recess, followed by midterm campaigning, Congress will accomplish little prior to the November elections, nonetheless, the committee attempted to have it both ways by including the word “nonbinding” to allow their establishment candidates plausible deniability when addressing moderate Democrats in their districts.

In other words, candidates and lawmakers may continue to articulate their own positions on the issue.

But, dare they…?

If establishment Democrats embrace the DSA, they will lose swing voters, disagree and the activists, many of whom are doing the party’s field work, will sit out the November elections. This year, there is no “having it both ways.”

But the resolution covers more than just ICE. It reads, “The DNC urges Democratic members of Congress to craft legislation abolishing ICE and enacting immigration reform that provides pathways to citizenship, protects workers, and ensures dignity for all impacted people.”

Clearly, the DNC is promoting general amnesty for illegal aliens (again), presumably in hopes of replacing the voters Democrats are losing.

If Democrats were genuinely interested in “protecting workers,” the Biden administration would have enforced immigration laws to prevent the invasion of millions of illegals who have driven down wages and stolen jobs from American workers, driven up housing costs by massively increasing the demand for housing, and, in the process, transformed multitudes of blue collar workers into Republican voters.

In fact, it is likely that the only “impacted people” for whom the DNC would “ensure dignity” are the immigration lawbreakers they need to beef up their voter rolls.

Following the conference, hapless DNC Chairman Ken Martin issued a pathetic, equivocal, butt-covering memo: “Clearly, the one thing that unites Democrats, regardless of their position on reform versus abolish or whatever other ways to change what’s happening, is people believe that what ICE is doing right now – and CBP and the federal government – should stop. There has to be a better way.”

But, Martin and the DNC wimped out. They ignored one important detail. The DNC did not offer a “better way.” Nor is there evidence that the committee even discussed one or more “better ways.”

All we know for certain is that the DNC is willing to put ICE in the crosshairs even though the agency has already located and rescued more than 150,000 of the more than 300,000 unaccompanied alien children – children! – the Biden administration admitted and failed to track. Furthermore, ICE reports that nearly 70 percent of alien arrestees had criminal records. Of course, 100 percent of them broke American immigration laws to be here.

One other thing is certain: the DNC surrendered to the DSA.

Republican National Committee Chairman Joe Gruters issued this statement: “Democrats made it official: they care more about protecting violent illegal aliens than American families. While President Trump and Republicans are securing our border and standing with law enforcement, Democrats want to let dangerous illegal criminals run wild in our communities. This resolution is political suicide, and Democrats will pay for choosing open borders over public safety, border security, and backing the blue.”

“Political suicide?” We’ll see in November…
