Are Political Conversations Still Possible?
Is it a fixed rule that anyone who asks a liberal a difficult question has ulterior motives, and/or is disrespectful, racist, fascist, xenophobic or misogynistic for asking it?
Does that “rule” automatically justify liberals not answering, equivocating, and/or lying in response?
If you are liberal, and your answer to either question is “yes,” prepare to ignore, equivocate or prevaricate, because following are a few additional questions that deserve straight, thoughtful, honest answers.
Democrat-run jurisdictions have the strictest gun control laws. If those laws work, why aren’t Chicago, Los Angeles and Philadelphia the safest cities in America?
Why should politicians who support gun control be allowed armed security details paid for by the taxpayers they aim to disarm?
Legal gun owners are subject to vigorous background checks. Why shouldn’t background checks be required on immigration, welfare recipients, and voters?
Why do illegal aliens who wave the flags of their home countries here consider it punishment to be sent back to them?
If Democrats think voter ID laws are racist, why do they require photo ID to attend their town hall meetings and national conventions?
Democrats are angry about investigations into allegations of criminality by elected Democrats and certain appointed/allied bureaucrats who targeted candidate, later President Donald Trump and certain of his aides/appointees. Why shouldn’t the same lawfare be applied equally and as punitively to Democrats as Democrats applied them to Republicans?
Did President Donald Trump’s election inspire the left’s hatred for his voters, or merely reveal it?
When liberal Democrats and legacy media (pardon the redundancy) offer advice to conservative Republicans, are 1) Republicans scoring points or about to win an election; are 2) Democrats in trouble, usually of their own making, and need distractions; or 3) all of the above?
What is it that allows young graduates who grew up in successful households to expect the same benefits their parents provided them before they actually achieve anything themselves?
Who forced young people to assume debt for degrees in “Gender Studies,” “Sustainability in the Urban Environment,” and other soft majors that not only lack genuine scholarship, but also fail to prepare them for much of anything post-graduation?
Isn’t it ironic that young people today hold more academic credentials than prior generations, but many are so poorly-educated, un- and underemployed that they tend to direct their anger and frustration at free market capitalism, the economic system that created and sustain the lifestyles to which they feel entitled?
Is virtue-signaling merely something liberals substitute for actual virtue?
Is advocating “social justice” just an opportunity for liberals to feel good about themselves without actually doing anything?
Is it merely coincidence that, for the left, “doing good things” always seems to require more government?
Is being allowed to vote a conflict of interest for able-bodied people who live on government handouts?
Why isn’t it considered a disservice to make needy Americans comfortable while offering no alternatives to poverty programs – and no means of escape? Why shouldn’t work requirements and drug testing be part of any public assistance program?
Why shouldn’t we judge the success of America’s War on Poverty by how few need charity rather than by how much charity we hand out?
If we can or will not judge results that way, what are we doing wrong?
A two-party system needs two functioning parties. Presently, America barely has one. Have Democrats abandoned their once-traditional values?
Have the Democratic Socialists of America taken over the Democratic Party, or is the party merely discarding its values for what it imagines to be short-term gain?
If the latter, wouldn’t that make the Democratic Party as anti-American as the socialists/communists they are embracing?
Are the left’s dismissive, even hostile, often hateful, and sometimes violent reactions to expressed conservative principles evidence that liberal opinions cannot withstand open, rational discussion?
A recent article reported that Hillary Clinton is planning her husband’s funeral, One wonders, how long has she been planning it?
Are conservatives wrong to be amused by President Trump’s apparent delight in tormenting and trolling liberal Democrats, or to enjoy watching highly-liberal institutions like academia, Hollywood and the legacy media committing ritual seppuku (metaphorically, at least) before their very eyes?
Finally, whose fault is it if you are unable to answer any of these questions to your own, much less to anyone else’s satisfaction?
