Now is the Time for the Common Sense Coalition

Now is the time for all good Americans to come to the aid of America.

This goes beyond any one issue, candidate, or officeholder. This isn’t about Democrat versus Republican or Left versus Right. Or about this election.

It’s beyond  “crazy versus normal.” It’s now socialism partnering with crazy and irresponsible versus America as we know it.

We must come together to defeat those who are irresponsible, destructive and openly trying to tear-down America. Ignore partisan labels and cooperate to advocate for policies that promote common sense and protect our timeless values. 

The socialists took over the Democratic Party of New York. They’re winning nominations for Congress from New York to Philadelphia and California. They hold office in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, our state house, New York City and the US Senate — never forget that Bernie Sanders is a self-described socialist.

These politicians are telling us their policies, goals and values. Listen! They’re true-believing ideologues on a mission “to radically transform the United States of America” — not simply to win an election or pass a law.

Whether they describe themselves as socialists, democratic socialists, Working Families Party, or the kinder and gentler “progressive” label, or whether they are honest enough to call themselves communists: they’re here. By their own admission. Loud, proud, and in our faces.

Here’s Philadelphia’s soon-to-be third district Congressman on Primary night: “I have been critiqued along this campaign for being too radical, being too bold. They ain’t seen nothing yet.” Or, soon-to-be Congresswoman Avila Chevalier from New York: “I forgot to get napkins so I just wiped my hands on the American flag behind me.”

Chevalier’s positions underscore not only her loyalty to socialism, but radical anti-American, anti-civil-society positions — abolishing police, prisons, and borders.

The socialists have teamed-up with the “crazy coalition,” combining policies, values, and societal goals that — if enacted — would do irreparable damage.

What unites their coalition is a common belief that America is fundamentally flawed — that our culture and values are harmful to Americans, and a force for evil in the world. This justifies their willingness to have inconveniences, hardships or even tragedy across America.

This goes beyond well-intentioned, flawed policies that just didn’t pan out or had unintended consequences. There are a series of policies whose goals are so obviously wrong, foolish or anti-American that the inevitable harms were obvious to anyone not caught up in their cause; or, so angry at Trump’s GOP they were unwilling to see the obvious, inevitable harms.

Think about the harms that we’ve already endured from “team crazy.”

Open borders. “Defund the Police.” (And its corollaries of decriminalization of shoplifting, reclassifying felonies to misdemeanors, allowing “mostly peaceful” riots, etc.) Infinite, ever-changing genders. (Demanding that men play women’s sports.) Climate crisis madness. Even the New York Times has backed away from this obsessive, irresponsible overreach. (Starting with chants to “ban fossil fuels,” leading to policies to ban gas ranges, cows — then mandating auto-shut-off cars).

Bastardizing the First Amendment so that “good morning boys and girls” is “hate speech;” but spray-painting swastikas, building encampments, and chanting “river to the sea” in front of Jewish student dorms is “free speech.” Then tearing down our historical statues.

Sabotaging our schools with social promotions, eliminating report cards and honors programs; and, separating students into “victims” and “oppressors.” Plus, an all out assault on “school choice” to lock students in failing, unsafe and curriculum-crazy schools.

Now, Socialism. An economic theory and ideology that is intertwined with a cultural mindset, views, and values that inevitably not only lowers standards of living (and creates an elitist class), but devalues if not criminalizes the practice of faith, devalues the individual and family, discourages independent thought and genuine progress.

What percentage of Nobel prize winners in science, literature or any area come from socialist countries? Almost none! Why? Because it’s a social construct masquerading as an economic theory — one that discourages creativity, optimism, and hope.

When the walls came down in Europe, did anyone from the West rush Eastward? Do people jump on life rafts and try to get into Cuba? In what socialist paradise have individual rights increased?

Socialism pulls most people down — it’s false equality.

Foolish, child-like politicians like Mamdani — who live off of their parents, never holding a private sector job — wax poetic like 1960’s hippies about “free” buses and healthcare, rent control, and government-run grocery stores. How do they think these things are paid for?

Socialism leads to greater inequity, a lower standard of living and breaks people’s spirits.

For generations, New York was vibrant because legal immigrants flocked there for opportunity. Mamdani’s destroying the very being of NYC.

Socialism should join its brother, communism, on the ash heap of history.

The time is now for commonsense Independents and Democrats to partner with Republicans to stop policies that are crazy. Republicans and Independents have to help defeat crazy or socialist Democrats in primaries.

Yes, our coalition will disagree on priorities and how to get things done; but, we can focus on common values and commonsense. But, we must reject politicians who are immature posers or socialists who do not understand nor care about consequences, and defend commonsense and American values.

If not now, when?
