What is RSS?

RSS = Really Simple Syndication

RSS provides a means to create your own "clipping service" utilizing the power and speed of the Internet. Subscribers (almost always free) identify the sites (via their RSS feeds) that they want to monitor and are notified when the individual feeds are updated. The subscribers see anything from titles to briefs to complete articles and have the opportunity to click through to the feed at the host site for more information.

RSS feeds are viewed either through an online site (e.g., http://www.bloglines.com) or from a desktop application (e.g., http://reader.rocketinfo.com/desktop/). It's free - why not take advantage of your own, personalized clipping service?

Publishers benefit from providing RSS feeds, too! Their readers are able to visit their site for more information and in a timely manner and their RSS can be posted on other sites, too!

Everyone wins with RSS!
