Kudos today to the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry which held its annual dinner last night at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center. This year's dinner featured a "debate" between former Republican Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee and liberal blogger Arianna Huffington. The exchange was moderated by Dennis Owens, the popular anchorman for ABC 27 News in the Harrisburg market.
The debate-style format provided for a lively exchange which was aired live on the Pennsylvania Cable Network. Huckabee and Huffington were articulate and passionate stand-ins for their respective candidates. But, unlike the Presidential campaign itself, the two were not shy about occasionally agreeing with each other and were polite to a fault. It was the type of discourse that should happen more often in politics.
Fans of Mike Huckabee who missed the chamber dinner have another chance this Friday when the former Arkansas governor speaks at a luncheon and then at a dinner in Lancaster sponsored by the Pennsylvania Family Institute. Tickets are still available. Get details at www.pafamily.org.
