Christian Leaders Object to Obama's Pro-Abortion Views
By Charlene Bashore, Esq., Legislative/Political Action Committee Director
(bashore@paprolife.org)

Christian leaders, including Dr. James Dobson, the head of Focus on the Family, and Dr. Rick Scarborough, a Southern Baptist minister and head of Vision America, find Barack Obama's extreme pro-abortion positions irreconcilable with his attempts to promote his Christian views. "Claiming you're a Christian isn't enough," Scarborough noted. He explained further, "He [Obama] supports partial-birth abortion...As a member of the Illinois State Senate, he had a 100% perfect rating from Planned Parenthood." (See http://www.lifenews.com/nat3994.html .) Dr. Dobson similarly criticized Obama's position in favor of unlimited and taxpayer-funded abortion, saying that Obama utilizes the "lowest common denominator of morality" which he called a "fruitcake interpretation of the Constitution." (See http://www.lifenews.com/nat3997.html .)

The Case Against Obama for Catholics
Columnist Deal Hudson argues that there are a number of reasons why Catholics should not support pro-abortion Democrat Barack Obama for President. You can find his thought-provoking article at http://insidecatholic.com/Joomla/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3953&Itemid=48 .

Are Americans More Interested in Gas Prices or Abortion?
A video clip from CNN is very telling when it comes to the misguided priorities of pro-abortion politicos. In the video, Obama supporter Donna Brazile suggests that Americans are more interested in the price of gas than in abortion. You can view her exchange with conservative William Bennett at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmoCZfEeWBw .

"Roe" Makes Pro-Life TV Ad
The "Roe" in "Roe v. Wade" has made a TV ad promoting life. Norma McCorvey, who went by the pseudonym Roe in the famous court case, now appears in a promotional spot regretting her role in the tragic 1973 Supreme Court ruling which legalized abortion for any reason during all nine months of pregnancy. You can view the Virtue Media ad at http://www.virtuemedia.org/television.htm.

Actress Patricia Heaton Talks About College Women and Abortion
Actress Patricia Heaton of "Everybody Loves Raymond" fame is speaking out about college students and abortion. Focus on the Family recently interviewed Heaton about her role in Feminists for Life, which promotes life-affirming solutions to college women facing unexpected pregnancies. You can find the interview at http://www.citizenlink.org/CLtopstories/A000007718.cfm .

Planned Parenthood Hits Suburbia
Planned Parenthood is trying to go upscale, attempting to entice higher-income customers through suburban storefronts and huge mega-clinics. The Wall Street Journal recently profiled this trend in an eye-opening article. You can read it at http://online.wsj.com/article_email/SB121417762585295459-lMyQjAxMDI4MTI0MzEyNzM3Wj.html .

Wall Street Journal Reveals Planned Parenthood's Real Agenda
By Maria Vitale, Education Director (vitale@paprolife.org)
In its recent front page story on Planned Parenthood, the Wall Street Journal managed to reveal Planned Parenthood's real agenda.
You've probably heard abortion advocates spout the line that abortion should be safe, legal, and rare--but abortion is anything but rare at Planned Parenthood.
In the Wall Street Journal piece, Planned Parenthood chief Cecile Richards, daughter of the late Texas Governor Ann Richards, says that she has encouraged more Planned Parenthood centers to offer abortions.
That's right--Planned Parenthood is encouraging more abortions.
And, if you still doubt that it's true, consider the fact that, while the total number of abortions have been declining nationwide, they're on the rise at Planned Parenthood. About one in five abortions occurs at a Planned Parenthood center, making it the Wal-Mart of abortions.
Abortion is big business--particularly at Planned Parenthood. Despite all the government money it receives, despite its talk of pills and pap smears, it remains the nation's leader in abortions. Its multi-million-dollar political arm will be working overtime this fall for candidates who support unlimited abortion, including Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama.
Planned Parenthood is misnamed. A more accurate title would be "Abortions R Us." No amount of public relations propaganda can hide the fact that Planned Parenthood is to abortions what fast food outlets are to hamburgers--the goal is to keep selling more and more, year in and year out.
And that makes for potentially millions of unhappy customers.

Drug Use and Pregnancy
A new study shows that women who are drug users can have healthy pregnancies if they are treated early in their pregnancies. All too often, people recommend abortion for women who have used drugs. But, as this study shows, drug treatment, not abortion, is the compassionate response. You can find the USA Today story on the study at http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/2008-06-26-addiction-pregnancy_N.htm .

Adult Stem Cells May Heal Fractures
New research indicates that adult stem cell transplants may improve the healing of fractures. This is good news for the 10 to 20 percent of individuals who have broken bones that won't heal under normal circumstances. To find out more, go to the Washington Post story at http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/06/17/AR2008061701647.html.

Pennsylvania Pro-Life at Creation
The Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation once again made an impact at Creation, the Christian music festival which attracted tens of thousands of people to Mount Union, PA. Within one three-hour shift, our volunteers managed to distribute some 250 fetal models to concert-goers who were eager to spread the pro-life message. Our sincere thanks to Board member Cindy Rearick and our crew of dedicated volunteers who staffed our pro-life booth.
