McCain Promises Strict Constructionist Justices

In an e-mail to his supporters, Republican Presidential candidate John McCain stressed the fact that the makeup of the U.S. Supreme Court hinges on this year's election. McCain wrote, "If one of my Democratic opponents is elected in November, you can rest assured that given the opportunity to appoint judges, they will appoint those who make law with disregard for the will of the people." McCain pointed out there may be at least two Supreme Court vacancies during the next Presidential term. "As President, I will ensure that only those judges who strictly interpret the Constitution of the United States are appointed. I will nominate judges who understand that their role is to faithfully apply the law as written, not impose their will through judicial fiat." McCain also noted that both Democratic Presidential candidates--Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama--voted against confirming Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito to the High Court. McCain also addressed the issue in a speech at Wake Forest University. You can find his comments at http://www.nrlc.org/News_and_Views/May08/nv050608part2.html .

Clinton vs. Obama Pits Planned Parenthood Against NARAL?

Members of the pro-abortion movement appear to be fighting against each other, as some pro-abortion activists are supporting Democrat Hillary Clinton and others are backing Democrat Barack Obama for President. For instance, the former president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Gloria Feldt, supports Clinton, while Kate Michelman, former leader of NARAL, is an Obama supporter. Also, NARAL itself has endorsed Obama for President. However, while there is disunity among pro-abortion political activists regarding choice of candidates, they seem to be united in believing that both candidates would be united against protecting unborn children. Thank You, Pennsylvania Homeschoolers!

We would like to take the opportunity to thank the many families who stopped by our booth at the Christian Homeschool Association of Pennsylvania convention in Harrisburg this past weekend. We heard inspiring stories of pregnant women who stood up for life for the sake of their unborn babies. It was also heartwarming to see so many young people mesmerized by our soft-touch fetal models. If you're a homeschooling family, please consider having your children enter our pro-life essay and oratory contests next year. For details, go to http://www.paprolife.org/2009%20Essay%20and%20Oratory%20Contest.htm .

Obama and Clinton's Response to When Life Begins

To see how Democratic Presidential candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton respond to the question of when life begins, go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0YxdV3J4Jw . As you can see from viewing the clip, neither candidate expresses a pro-life viewpoint.

Undiagnosed Depression Leads to High Elderly Suicide Rate

A report by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicates that America's elderly continue to have the highest suicide rate in the nation. According to Dr. Thomas Cavalieri, interim dean of the UMDMJ-School of Osteopathic Medicine, depression is frequently overlooked among senior citizens. The physician says it's a myth that depression is a natural part of aging. However, depression is treatable through psychotherapy and medication. The CDC report states that the highest suicide rate is among those between the ages of 75 and 84. Also, older men, who comprise 10.5 percent of the total male population, account for some 16.6 percent of male suicides. For more information, go to www.LifeNews.com .
