The Twists and Turns of 2008:
The Critical Importance of Registering to Vote
By Jacki Ragan, National Right to Life, Today's News & Views

Everyone agrees that this election cycle is unlike any we have witnessed in many, many years, close to unprecedented. That starts with how quickly the race for President began. Candidates were already lining up in earnest in November 2006, immediately following the off-year elections.

There have been countless twists and turns with the fortunes of various candidates going up and down like a roller coaster. We have experienced anomalies that have repeatedly stumped the pundits. And as this article is being written, the battle between pro-abortion Presidential candidates within the Democratic Party is hotter than ever.

As pro-lifers, it never hurts to be reminded what we need to do to prepare ourselves even now. One of the very first steps is to be sure you are registered to vote.

Obvious? Yes, but of particular importance in 2008. The campaigns have drawn huge turnouts in the primaries and caucuses. While there is no guarantee this will translate into an especially heavy turnout in November, it could well. more...

"Expelled" Exposes Planned Parenthood Founder

The new documentary "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed" by Ben Stein exposes the eugenicist roots of Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger. Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation Education Director Maria Vitale explores the issue in a column for LifeNews.com that can be found at http://www.lifenews.com/nat3882.html .

Fox News Reports on Black Genocide

Fox News recently reported on a group of black pastors who are urging Congress to conduct an audit of Planned Parenthood in light of its role in the black genocide represented in abortion. You can find the story at http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,352537,00.html .

An Ethical Alternative to Embryonic Stem Cell Research

By Charlene Bashore, Esq., Legislative/Political Action Committee Director (bashore@paprolife.org)

Legislation which would establish a Statewide Public Cord Blood Bank has been reported from the Senate Public Health and Welfare Committee. S.B. 1132, sponsored by Senator Wonderling, would not only encourage the collection of life-saving placental and umbilical cord blood, but also make the units available to transplant centers throughout the Commonwealth. Placental and umbilical cord blood transplants have been used in treating a variety of conditions such as cancer, brain injuries, cerebral palsy, and diabetes. (See http://www.lifenews.com/bio2294.html) As more and more states promote the awareness of ethical alternative embryonic stem cell research, the number of units available for transplant and therefore, the number of people able to be treated is expected to continue to increase. (See http://www.lifenews.com/bio2033.html) Pennsylvanians may soon be increasing those numbers.

Adult Stem Cells Used to Treat Wounded

LifeNews.com is reporting that wounded soldiers coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan are being treated with their own adult stem cells. The stem cell treatments have been successful for injuries involving the bones. To date, more than 70 successful treatments overall have been attributed to adult stem cell research, while embryonic stem cell research, which results in the killing of human embryos, has resulted in zero successful therapies. Letter to a Daughter

By: Anonymous

Mother's Day, 2008

My Beloved Daughter,

I don't need any gifts this Mother's Day. I received the greatest gift possible some years ago, on the day of your birth. I can never thank God enough for the gift of your life. But on this Mother's Day, I'd also like to extend to you an apology.

There were so many years when I was silent on the issue of life--so many Mother's Days when I failed to remember the children who aren't here because of abortion. Some of these children might have been friends of yours. I grieve them now, and weep at the lives that might have been.

I want you to know that I am committed to doing everything possible to help make America abortion-free by the time you're old enough to have children of your own. It's bad enough that a child of mine has to live in a world with abortion. I don't want my grandchildren to carry that burden.

I can't make up for the years that I was a bystander in the culture wars, when I did not lift a finger to prevent the murder of the innocents. But I make you this promise: I will never be silent in the face of such brutality again.

I have only to look into your lovely face to see what's at stake. Thank you, my dear little daughter, for teaching me what love is all about.

With All My Love,

Mom
