As of March 31, physicians are required to pay their own unabated MCARE assessments--in many cases, adding tens of thousands of dollars more to medical liability insurance costs. In an attempt to strong arm the Pennsylvania Senate into approving his health care plan, Governor Rendell put an end to state funded MCARE subsidies. The Senate stood moral ground, and now doctors have fallen victim to the governor's tyranical political roulette. How dare this governor use physicians as pawns in his political game?
