Rendell passes MCARE costs onto Physicians!

Political posturing by Governor Rendell is about to cost you more in medical liability insurance costs.

Last week, the governor sent a letter to physicians across Pennsylvania touting how he championed MCARE, but because the Senate won't give into his arm twisting as the House of Representatives did, doctors will now have to pay their own MCARE assessments.

Effective March 31, 2008 Rendell will require doctors to pay their own unabated MCARE assessments because the State Senate will not give him his way by signing onto his health insurance plan.

Rendell's posturing is a serious threat to physician jobs throughout Pennsylvania, and it puts patients at even greater risk.

Physicians and patients had nothing to do with the legislative crisis Rendell created. Yet, he is holding these innocent victims hostage so he can strike a legislative victory.

Interfering with patient access to physicians is an outrage and borders on being a criminal act. Will the governor be charged with murder If a patient dies as a result of his holding health care services hostage?

Don't be fooled by the governor's letter. If he truly cared about Pennsylvanians losing access to physicians, he would not use MCARE as a bargaining chip to pressure the senate. Governor Rendell has all along been and continues to be a strong opponent of meaningful tort reform.

Call your state senator today to demand he or she publicly denounce the governor's use of physician access as a means to pass his legislation.
