My first reaction was to ask Dr. Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury, where he bought his happy pills. After all, this is the man who just called for Islamic Sharia law to be implemented in England. I assume, since all Muslims simply adore British citizens and their Western culture, that this was Dr. Williams' way of continuing the Golden Age of World Peace in which we find ourselves.
Hey, appeased terrorists and their sympathizers make the best neighbors.
After reading more of Williams' comments this week, however, it's obvious that it's not medication talking. It's much more dangerous. It's a man in a significant position of power---he leads over 80 million in the Anglican Church--- who naïvely advocates positions that place Britain, as well as his own flock, in physical and spiritual jeopardy.
But let's give credit where it's due. His "apology-without-actually-making-an apology" rivals anything we Americans could muster. Has Williams been taking lessons from the U.S. Congress?
He stated that he would "take responsibility for any unclarity". Great! That sound you now hear must be the Muslim hordes retreating en masse from the UK because of Williams' courageous proclamation!
I feel better already.
Here's the truth. There was no "unclarity" in Williams' words. He stated, quite clearly, that the adoption of Sharia law in Britain was inevitable. He has put himself on record as someone who doesn't want to defend Christianity and Western values. Period.
Williams isn't backing down from his position that Muslims in Britain should be able to handle disputes, such as marriage and financial matters, in a Sharia court, effectively ignoring the British legal system. (Sharia is the Islamic religious law which governs most aspects of public and private life for Muslims).
Look, let's be up front on Sharia law. Whether it is oppressive and discriminatory in its nature, or whether it incorporates the best legal framework on the planet, is absolutely irrelevant in this situation.
I'm not advocating a stance against Sharia. It just doesn't belong in Britain. Not now, not ever.
If the Archbishop is so desperately attached to Sharia, fine. Then he should convert and move to Saudi Arabia. Otherwise, he should act like a Briton. And maybe he should carefully consider the calls for him to resign.
I know it's taboo to talk about Muslim relations with the West in terms of a "Crusade". But this is Freindly Fire, so nothing is off-limits. For a certain element of Muslims, no effort is made to disguise their intention of annihilating everything Western—-our values, our beliefs, and our "infidel" churches and synagogues. Of course, once something is destroyed, it must be replaced by something else. Can you guess what these people would like to see implemented in Britain—-and the rest of Western Europe?
Before the cries of "racist" and "bigot" come flying my way from the lunatic fringe, let's look at the numbers. Many experts say that "only 10%" of Muslims are terrorists or have terrorist sympathies. Sounds harmless enough, until you do the math. There are approximately 1.5 billion Muslims worldwide. Even if you halved the 10% estimation, that leaves a staggering 75 million Muslims screaming "Death to the West"---and 90,000 in the UK alone.
And to reward such a mindset, we're supposed to turn around and give them exactly what they want? We're supposed to voluntarily give up the values and freedoms that so many Westerners died to achieve? Why have we become so politically correct, to the point where we can't be proud of our own heritage? Why do we bow to the very people who seek our destruction? If Muslims don't like the legal system in Britain, there is a simple answer to that problem.
Leave.
If Sharia is your cup of tea, go to a country where it's the law of the land. Otherwise, assimilate and stop complaining.
And lets not forget about the significant numbers of Muslims who came to the West for the very purpose of escaping Sharia law, and are perfectly happy with Western laws and freedoms. Do they have no say in the matter?
You will notice that I use the terms "we" and "our" when discussing the British Sharia issue, yet I am American. Why? Because this is an epic ideological battle that transcends oceans, nationalities, and religions. I stand with the majority of British people who want to take their country back from the politically correct appeasers, but are fearful of being labeled as "racist" or "intolerant". It is not racist to preserve your own culture, laws and identity. It is natural---and right.
If we indeed are living in the time of the Last Crusade, the biggest irony is that the West is falling not from outside invasion, but from internal decay. Instead of fighting the good fight, we are opening the door to our sworn enemy, and giving up with barely a whimper.
That mentality must end. Here. Now. Today.
The new beginning must start with the Anglican Church. If it is ever to regain the prominence and influence it once held, its members need to make their voices heard and take a stand--- not against Islam, but for themselves.
The world is watching.
