With information obtained under Pennsylvania's Right-to-Know Act, StopTeacherStrikes, Inc. today announces that it has posted the individual names and salaries of all Downington Area school teachers on its website www.stopteacherstrikes.org.
President of StopTeacherStrikes, Inc., Simon Campbell, commented:
"It is outrageous that a state mediator has placed a gag order on the negotiating parties in the Downington Area contract dispute. This is public money under discussion, so faceless bureaucrats who are unelected and unaccountable to the public have no business telling taxpayers they need to be kept in the dark."
"Today, the posting of Downington Area teachers' names and salaries is designed to facilitate public scrutiny of public information. Taxpayers are also encouraged to review the incomes of union officials such as Paul Gottlieb who earned $119,956 in 2006-2007 as well as review which golf clubs the teachers' union likes to spend its revenue at."
Campbell continued:
"It is past due for Pennsylvania to pass the Strike-Free Education Act (HB 1369) into law to ban teacher strikes just like thirty-seven (37) other states have already done. Pennsylvania's parents are sick and tired of watching children's education being held hostage by teacher labor unions and their overindulgent feasting at the taxpayer trough."
