Harrisburg, PA – The Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania pays tribute to Santa Claus, a true champion of liberty as portrayed in the TV special "Santa Claus is Coming to Town."

The story is a classic tale of the battle for freedom from government force. The story unfolds when the "Bergermeister" slips and falls on a small toy breaking his leg and then in the name of public safety passes a law banning all toys. The Bergermeister revels in the fact that the streets are now safe though the people are glum with a dismal outlook.

Enter Kris Kringle, a.k.a. Santa Claus, who proceeds to challenge the law by passing out free toys to the children. As a true libertarian, Santa doesn't force others to pay for the toys. Instead, he uses private funding and effort.

For his actions, the Bergermeister declares Santa Claus an outlaw wanted "Dead or Alive". Government Storm Troopers resort to breaking and entering people's homes without a search warrant in the desperate search for the dreaded illegal toys. The Bergermeister's henchmen finally capture Santa Claus and throw him in jail.

After his band of rebels help him escape, Santa flees to the North Pole to avoid being hunted down by the authorities. Santa persists with his voluntary giving and grows in popularity as he continues to defy the unjust law of the land.

This tale's Santa is a true champion of liberty and his story is a reminder of the true nature of giving – through personal caring and voluntary action. Not through government force.

The Libertarian Party is the third largest political party in both Pennsylvania and the United States. Nationwide there are over 200,000 registered Libertarians with organizations in all 50 states.
