PRESS RELEASE, Yardley, PA --Dec 17 2007:
In response to the Pennsylvania State Education Association's recent announcement that its lobbyists are actively working with legislators to prevent the Strike-Free Education Act from being voted upon (http://www.psea.org/voice/article.cfm?artID=2114), StopTeacherStrikes, Inc. president, Simon Campbell issues the following statement:
"It is to be expected that the Pennsylvania State Education Association labor union would oppose banning teacher strikes, but the union's open desire to prevent a vote on the Strike-Free Education Act is breathtaking in its arrogance. Whether the legislation passes or not, it deserves a public hearing and a floor vote. The tens of thousands of innocent school children affected by strikes each year in Pennsylvania deserve at least that much consideration. It is nothing less than criminal that the democratic process is being corrupted by this huge special interest group and their six figure salaried lobbyists."
