Reading, Pennsylvania Native to Head Toomey’s Washington and State Operations

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) announced today that Reading, Pa. native Dan Brandt will become Chief of Staff managing Capitol and state operations. Brandt succeeds Christopher Gahan, who is leaving government service.

"After more than six years of outstanding service, Christopher Gahan will be leaving my office for an opportunity in the private sector. I greatly appreciate his service and his friendship. He set my office up from scratch and led and mentored a staff that has done outstanding work for the people of Pennsylvania.

"Starting January 20th, Dan Brandt, who has served extremely well as my Legislative Director for the last four years, will become my new Chief of Staff. Dan is from Reading and he knows much of the state well. He is an expert in budget and tax policy and Senate procedure, which will be helpful given my focus in the new Congress. Dan is a strong manager and team leader and will continue the exceptional performance of our DC and seven Pennsylvania offices.

"As I have said before, I have the best staff in the Senate. Under Dan’s leadership, I look forward to working to restore America’s standing in the world and enacting policies that encourage stronger economic growth so that Pennsylvanians can enjoy more jobs, higher wages, and an improving standard of living."

Brandt previously worked on the Senate Budget Committee and was Senator Jon Kyl’s (R-Arizona) chief budget advisor. He holds a holds a masters in applied economics from Johns Hopkins and a bachelor’s degree in international business from American University. He attended Central Catholic High School in Reading, Pa.
