A Conservative View of America, the Comical

Perhaps my sense of irony is a bit overdeveloped, but some things just make me laugh:

Is it even remotely possible that the same thing – more taxation — is the solution to every problem?

It’s amusing that carbon-based life forms holding public office have proposed taxing … carbon.

Former Vice President Al Gore won a Nobel Prize and an Oscar for publicizing the "imminent threat" of global warming.

Since then, we learned that Gore’s 10,000-square-foot Tennessee mansion uses more electricity in a month than an average family uses in a year.
I’ll take global warming seriously when the people who say it’s a problem begin acting as if they believe it.

When progressives enact "imperfect" policies (e.g.: stimulus, Obamacare), they blame their flops on conservatives who "failed" to fully commit to their schemes. Have conservatives ever been right about anything?
Progressives: Does anyone fall outside these categories — oppressors, oppressed or Protectors of the Oppressed (echo, echo…)?

The left complains about miserable conditions in America’s inner-cities, yet elected liberals have run America’s worst cities for decades.

In 2004, What’s the Matter with Kansas? hit bestseller booklists. Its premise: Some people are too stupid to grasp their "best interests," so they vote conservative when they should be voting for Democrats.

The left constantly mocks rural Americans (e.g.: Pennsyltucky), regards the entire South as ignorant hicks, and then can’t understand why Democrats lose elections in rural areas and the South. Undaunted, Democrats blame "racism," a comical rationalization which allows invidious losers to "win" by feeling even more justified and self-righteous?

Jonah Goldberg wrote:

"We’re… told we’re racists … that conservatism is full of racist codes and dog whistles…yet the only people who consistently decipher these codes or hear these dog whistles are liberals themselves. … Liberals see themselves as sinless and heroic on matters racial, so their opposite numbers … must be sinful and villainous… It’s a form of lazy categorical thinking that …fails to take account of reality in order to sustain a self-serving narrative.

"I don’t think liberals appreciate how much conservatives laugh at this stuff."

Many liberals define simple disagreement over things like gay marriage or abortion — no matter how well-expressed — as "hatred," and respond angrily, viciously – hatefully – against it.

This irony is completely lost on them, too.

In 2006, Congress passed the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act. According to the USASpending.gov website, the law "…requires that the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) establish a…searchable website, accessible to the public at no cost, which includes for each Federal award:

1. the name of the [recipient];
2. the amount…
3. information… including transaction type, funding agency, etc;
4. the location of the [recipient]; and
5. a unique identifier…

"USAspending.gov was first launched in December 2007 to fulfill these requirements."

In August, 2014, USA Today reported that the fed’s "transparency" website couldn’t account for $619 billion

And when Hillary Clinton became the Secretary of State, $6 billion went missing from the department’s budget.

Stunning incompetence, indeed, but sardonically funny.

The left fulminates about national policy being directed by sinister House "tea party" Republicans – or only about one-tenth of one-half of one-third of the government. The math alone is hilarious.

In recent ratings reported by the Huffington Post, NBC, CBS and ABC Evening News plus CNN and MSNBC (primetime) reached 21.7 million viewers daily, yet the left complains that Fox News, which averages only 1.6 million viewers in primetime – less than 8 percent of the total TV news market — dominates the news

In fact, despite terrorism, upheaval in the Middle East and Africa, a resurgence of the Cold War and a likely nuclear Iran, one State Department spokesperson apparently considers America’s greatest threat to be … Bill O’Reilly.

Considering those foreign policy failures and budget irregularities, it’s entertaining to watch Democrats attempt to identify a genuine achievement of Hillary Clinton other than "raising awareness" of … stuff … and enabling her husband’s inappropriate behavior.

Since Eureka College graduate Ronald Reagan left office, the White House has been occupied by an uninterrupted string of mediocrities, all having Ivy League degrees.

Hillary Clinton has a degree from Yale.

"Boola, Boola, Boola, Boola … They will holler Boola Boo!"
