Club for Growth Opposes Ryan-Murray Budget Proposal
Club for Growth President Chris Chocola: "Apparently, there are some Republicans who don’t have the stomach for even relatively small spending reductions that are devoid of budgetary smoke and mirrors."

Washington, DC – Today, the Club for Growth issued the following statement on the Ryan-Murray budget proposal:

"This proposal swaps debt reduction today and next year, for the dubious promise of debt reduction a decade from now," said Club for Growth President Chris Chocola. "All Republicans have to do is nothing, and they will retain the rather modest budget savings that comes from the sequester. Apparently, there are some Republicans who don’t have the stomach for even relatively small spending reductions that are devoid of budgetary smoke and mirrors. If Republicans work with Democrats to pass this deal, it should surprise no one when Republican voters seek alternatives who actually believe in less spending when they go to the ballot box."

"The Club for Growth will include a vote on the Ryan-Murray Budget proposal on our 2013 Congressional Scorecard. Instead of passing this flawed proposal, Republicans should pass a continuing resolution that preserves the savings from the sequester," added Chocola.
