Bloom Named to Influential House Finance Committee
HARRISBURG – Rep. Stephen Bloom (R-Cumberland) today announced that he has been assigned to the influential Finance Committee of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 2013-14 legislative session.
In addition to the Finance Committee, Bloom will retain his seats on the Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Labor and Industry committees, and will join the Children and Youth Committee. He will no longer serve on the Urban Affairs and Environmental Resources and Energy committees.
"As a strong fiscal conservative, I am honored to earn a seat on the House Finance Committee, where I can be a more effective advocate for our hard-working taxpayers and ensure that our small businesses and job creators have a voice on one of the most important committees in the General Assembly," Bloom said. "The Finance Committee oversees matters relating to taxation and fiscal policy, investment of the Commonwealth’s monies, and regulations of the Department of Revenue. I look forward to working constructively with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to develop globally competitive tax policies that unleash our productive enterprises and creative entrepreneurs to grow the jobs we need right here in Pennsylvania.
"I will also continue to be an active member of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Labor and Industry committees. The legislative work of these committees is key to the growth of our economy, especially because agriculture is Pennsylvania’s No. 1 industry, continued Bloom. "Running a farm or any type of business is increasingly challenging, and we need to ensure government is not standing in the way of economic success. I will continue to use my positions on these committees to fight for measures that open Pennsylvania for business, reduce job-killing regulations and create greater opportunities for our citizens."
