AJS: Jobs Report Highlights a Stagnant Economy And Poor Policies

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Stephen DeMaura, President of Americans for Job Security, today issued the following statement in the wake of the Department of Labor announcing just 80,000 jobs were created in the U.S. in June, leaving the unemployment rate at 8.2 percent and the more accurate U-6 indicator at 14.9 percent:

"Despite President Obama’s empty rhetoric, today’s jobs report highlights a stagnant economy where small businesses and large job creators alike are tied in red tape, shackled by an expensive and complex corporate tax code, and fighting to survive in a toxic business environment.

"President Obama claims he’s betting on America, but if you look at his policies, he’s betting on the federal government and as a result, America has lost. He’s bolstered the size, scope and cost of government, while putting Americans deeper into debt. The American people are looking for a new commitment to growing the private sector and a new set of policies that are based on proven results, not misleading rhetoric."
