Pennsylvania Lawmakers Pass New
Abortion Center Regulations

Pennsylvania Pastors’ Network Hails New Regulations

Philadelphia, PA—Last week, the Pennsylvania House and Senate passed SB 732, a common-sense bill that will put abortion clinics under the same health and safety guidelines that all other outpatient surgical centers must meet. The bill passed in the Senate on Wednesday 32-18 and by a 151-44 margin in the House Tuesday.

Pennsylvania has been hit hard by allegations and charges against abortion clinics throughout the state over the past year, including the gruesome conditions and Dr. Kermit Gosnell’s practices at the Women’s Medical Society in West Philadelphia . Gosnell and other abortion doctors went nearly 15 years without a single inspection of an abortion clinic in Pennsylvania.

"This bill is long overdue and will make sure that abortion clinics meet the same safety and cleanliness practices that every other surgical center in the state must also uphold," said Colin Hanna, president of the Pennsylvania Pastors’ Network and Let Freedom Ring. "Perhaps if these regulations had been in place, the women who died under Dr. Gosnell’s care would still be alive, and the babies born alive in that center, and then killed, could have lived a full life."

The Pennsylvania Pastors’ Network is a group of biblically faithful clergy and church liaisons whose objective is to build a permanent infrastructure of like-minded clergy who affirm the authority of Scripture, take seriously Jesus’ command to be the "salt and light" to the culture, encourage informed Christian thinking about contemporary social issues; examine public policy issues without politicizing their pulpits and engage their congregations in taking part in our political process on a non-partisan basis.

The Pennsylvania Pastors’ Network is a project of Let Freedom Ring, Inc., a 501 c(4) non-profit organization.
