Glen Meakem Update

by Glen Meakem

October 23-24 - Two Weeks to Go

With just two full weeks to go before the November 2010 elections, Glen reminds listeners that we must elect conservatives to Congress who oppose the destructive tax, borrow and spend policies of the "progressive" left. The good news is that if we remain engaged this election cycle, Conservatives should be able to win enough congressional seats to control the U.S. House, and remove Nancy Pelosi as Speaker. Conservatives should also be able to make significant gains in the U.S. Senate.

David McKinley, candidate for Congress in West Virginia's first congressional district, joins Glen and reminds us that voters are afraid of losing their jobs, afraid of losing their current health care, afraid of soaring energy prices, and afraid of pending tax increases. If elected to Congress, David will vote to repeal Obamacare and replace it with rational health care reform that empowers individuals, vote to make the Bush tax rates permanent, vote to reduce the corporate net income tax rates, and vote against any Cap and Trade energy schemes. To learn more about David, please visit his campaign website.

Glen also talks with Ed Stack, Chairman and CEO of Dick's Sporting Goods, about the type of hard work and determination that it takes for aspiring entrepreneurs to be successful in business. Ed reminds listeners that successful entrepreneurs start businesses because they love what they are doing and because they are absolutely committed to their product.

Matt Pitzarella, an executive with Range Resources, joins Glen with some insights on the issues and regulations inhibiting the natural gas industry's ability to modernize. Matt also comments on Governor Ed Rendell's inability to move the severance tax forward in Pennsylvania this year.

Finally, Glen ends his program this weekend by commenting on NPR's decision to fire Juan Williams over his statements regarding Muslims on Bill O'Reilly's Fox News show.
