COMES TO TOWN ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 15

Most Popular Music From B94 To Be Featured on Star 100.7

CBS RADIO Pittsburgh announced today it will debut the market’s first FM sports radio station on Monday, February 15 beginning at 5:30AM. SPORTSRADIO 93.7 The Fan has assembled a host of expert analysts and commentators to provide area listeners with a lineup of "all sports…all the time." Available on-air, online at www.937thefan.com, as well as streamed live on a variety of mobile devices such as the iPhone, iPod Touch and Blackberry, The Fan will operate under the call letters KDKA-FM.

93.7 The Fan will be locally programmed by veteran radio executive Terry Foxx who most recently was program director for ESPN Radio in Bristol, Conn. Foxx has been working closely with CBS RADIO’s Mark Mason on the station’s presentation. Mason was the programming architect of the country’s first all-sports station, WFAN in New York, when it debuted in 1987.

Michael Young, Senior Vice President and Market Manager of CBS RADIO Pittsburgh, said, "SPORTSRADIO 93.7 The Fan is being built for Pittsburgh’s sports fans who are simply the best in the country. We’ll feature an array of opinionated, compelling and very talented local talk-show personalities who will be highly engaged in discussions and commentary driven by our listeners."

Veteran NewsRadio 1020 KDKA Sports Director Jeff Hathhorn will assume the same position for the FM outlet and provide updates and reports from the field along with Kalena Bell and Jim Colony. The station’s lineup and complete roster of talent will be announced prior to the launch of the station.

Added Foxx, "It is been a privilege and an honor to create an all-sports FM radio station in Pittsburgh. The on-air presentation will be unique to our market, and our presence will be felt on game days and at major sporting happenings all over town."

Launching along with the station will be an in-depth website (www.937thefan.com) where fans can access an array of text, audio and video about their local sports teams and the national storylines, as well as complete listings of sports scores and schedules. Further interaction with the station will be made available through blogs from 93.7 The Fan on-air personalities, message boards, and community groups.

In a related announcement, CBS RADIO Pittsburgh said it will blend B94’s popular hits format with Hot AC STAR 100.7 effective immediately. The music mix of STAR 100.7, will feature current hits from artists like Lady Gaga, Daughtry, Kelly Clarkson and the Black Eyed Peas plus favorites from the 90’s and 2000s like Pink, the Dave Matthews Band, Beyonce, Coldplay and Justin Timberlake.

"It’s a new decade and this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create a super pop music station for the audiences of both B94 and STAR 100.7," said Keith Clark, Vice President, Programming, CBS RADIO Pittsburgh. "Pittsburghers have grown up with B94, but the pop music audience today shares its time between B94 and STAR 100.7.
