Conservative Reform Network

Our mission is to build a network of funding sources and a community of activists who will advance an agenda that embraces a philosophy of Constitutional Limited Government, the Rule of Law, Economic Freedom, and the traditional values that sustain individual initiative, personal autonomy and responsibility.

Our network community is dedicated to replacing current elected liberal central planners who believe in command and control socialism by a few elite technocrats, the few ruling the many, with leaders who support the freedom of the individual, free markets engaged in free trade, and free market solutions to healthcare, retirement, energy and education.

Dear Lowman,

US Representative John Murtha is an icon for everything wrong with Earmarks.

You can view more posts on my blog.

Airport to Nowhere

Wall Street Journal reports that both Democratic Pennsylvania Senators, Arlen Specter and Bob Casey, Jr., voted to keep John Murtha's Earmark for the Airport to Nowhere. This Johnstown Airport averages about 30 passengers a day. Last week 53 Senators-including 51 Democrats- voted down an amendment by Republican Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina "Mr. DeMint pleaded with his colleagues that "if we can't cut funding for this project, we can't cut anything in Washington" and that the Senate will have declared "there's no such thing as waste, there's no such thing as fraud and corruption."
Politico.com also reports that Democrats voted to retain funding for Murtha's Airport to Nowhere

Washington Post also reports on DeMint Defunding Amendment which went nowhere.

Ties That Bind

US Democratic Representative from Pennsylvania's 17th District Tim Holden presided over the House and voted for increased spending and for Earmark for John Murtha's National Drug Intelligence Center. Previously Tim Holden had voted to preserve John Murtha's Earmark for the Airport to Nowhere.

From RedDauphin: "One notable amendment did reach a vote: Amendment 87: Inserts a provision prohibiting funds under the bill from being used for operations of the National Drug Intelligence Center.(Roll Call #378) The National Drug Intelligence Center is a pork-barrel boondoggle, one of Jack Murtha's questionable projects along with his now-infamous Airport to nowhere. The House Government Reform Committee called for its shutdown in 2006.The Committee's report described the center's budget as "an expensive and duplicative use of scarce federal drug enforcement resources."

RedDauphin's Holden Watch is a blog to watch.

Murtha's Scrutiny

Pennsylvania Democratic US Representiatve John Murtha's own home town newspaper, Johnstown's The Tribune Democrat reports on the "scrutiny", the polite word for Congressional Ethics investigation. Republican Challengers Tim Burns and Bill Russell have commented and the news stories and the continuing information from the campaigns may convince the voters of the 12th District, including vote rich Johnstown, that the pork and Earmarks for Military Contractors and Airports for No One benefit a few and unemployment is high in this area. "Earmarks, Pork, what good is it doing you if you can't get a job? "The Voters may be asking.
