Smith Appoints House Republican Committee Chairs for the 2009-10 Session

HARRISBURG – State House Republican Leader Sam Smith (R-Jefferson County) today appointed Republican committee chairs for the 2009-10 legislative session, which begins in January.

Smith said the House Committees are supposed to conduct public hearings on key issues, allowing citizens and interested groups to have a say in the legislative process and serve as a resource for members and others.

"House Republicans look forward to a productive legislative session and are committed to dealing with the issues facing Pennsylvania," Smith said. "Republican chairs plan to fully participate in public hearings, exchange in healthy debate and improving bills as they get positioned for House votes."
